Like most humans on planet Earth right now, you’re sitting on your couch or at your computer waiting for someone to fix this whole coronavirus mess. You can’t touch doorknobs, look at other humans, or move.
Luckily for you, the Internet is full of super fun browser-based web games. All these games are free to play and should work anywhere! So as long as we’re stuck indoors, here are a few of the best games to play:
A massively multiplayer online game where players control an avatar resembling a worm, which consumes multicolored pellets, both from other players and ones that naturally spawn on the map in the game, to grow in size.
Another massively multiplayer online game where players control one or more cells in a map representing a Petri dish. The goal is to gain as much mass as possible by eating agar and cells smaller than the player’s cell while avoiding larger ones which can eat the player’s cells.
Kingdom of Loathing
A multiplayer game which uses hand-drawn stick figure graphics and writing characterized by surreal humor, word play, parody and references to popular culture.
A platform game in which players control a girl named Madeline as she makes her way up a mountain while avoiding various deadly obstacles.
A block-based, first-person shooter with a wide variety of game modes, weaponry, and maps.
A multiplayer skill based game with a deep melee combat and RPG elements. Loot your enemies for gold and buy new equipment.
A classic arcade style survival shooter. Players control Ricky Rocket as he makes the final stand for humanity while being chased by Hank the Alien who rides a rocket powered surfboard (or is it a joint?). You must attempt to quarantine planets infected by the mysterious galactic virus.
The more enemies you kill, the more score and HP you earn . High-scores also gives you experience points to level up your character and unlock new weapons.
The object of the game is to be the first to capture half of all stars in the galaxy. The game is real-time and played over several weeks. You can log in at any time of the day to check the progress of your fleets, view the results of battles, and issue new orders.
A web-based Pokémon battle simulator.
Town of Salem
Town of Salem is a browser-based game that challenges players on their ability to convincingly lie as well as detect when other players are lying. The game ranges from 7 to 15 players.
So there you have it, something to do for the next couple of weeks… months? Years, I’m told. Well, maybe this won’t be enough then. We’ll start looking for more. Enjoy!
